Bringing Excellence to Your Program: How Instruction Day Works With Exam Essentials

Now that all the preliminary paperwork is done, like our contract, w9, and maybe an NTFC, what does it look like when Exam Essentials comes to teach at your school?

Instructors from Exam Essentials will arrive at your site half an hour before our scheduled time to instruct. For most new clients, Kate will attend at least the first day of your job. We ask that you or another member of your institution meet us and show us where we’ll be instructing, where your supplies are, and where the restroom is.

We’ll then set up our workspace with the tools we need, like speculums, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc. Those of us who are modeling as well as instructing will put on a patient gown about 10 minutes before your students are due to start their instruction with us.

If you’ve contracted for small group instruction, Kate (or the Exam Essentials person who’s managing your onsite job) can greet your students, explain what we do, and help split up students into different instruction groups. Or you can do the explanation yourself and let your students know where they’re headed for instruction.

Instructors will teach for the length of time we’ve arranged with you. Occasionally, someone will finish a little early, but we have relevant topics to talk about with students to keep us from finishing too early. Most instructors will give students a short break about halfway through our instruction.

We do want to know where you, or a representative from your program, are while we teach. Every once in a while, a student may need additional support from your program. For instance, someone who needs to know where to pump breast milk or a student who feels sick or experiences difficulty practicing the exams beyond usual nervousness.

Students will be dismissed as the instructor’s finish. If there’s a specific place students need to go after, make sure we know so we can remind the students! Instructors will clean up the space they’ve used to teach. Let us know if there’s a specific place you need us to put soiled linens (if we’re using some from your program), materials that have body fluid, unused supplies, and garbage bags.

We’ll see you next time!
